Dive Into Your Interests

tl;dr: Don't be afraid to dive into your interests! In 2016 we proved that even the sky isn't a limit.

I woke up feeling nostalgic today about Vulcan-1. Way back when I got the opportunity to play a small part in this crazy idea to launch a rocket with a 3D-printed engine into space. This group of Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) at UC San Diego went down as the first group of students to do so, no small feat.

What place would a Computer Science kid have on an Aerospace mission? Well, who doesn't love space? I casually bugged Alexander Finch and Jesse Lang (who along with Deepak Atyam went on to be founders of Tri-D Dynamics) for a year to find a place for me on the project, because I had an uncultivated interest in astronomy and robotics and played around with some Arduino projects in the past. Luckily, a need came up to build out a small piece of the Avionics bay on the Vulcan project.
